An impressive number of Ugandans turned up last evening to support the Uganda Cranes against Congo Brazzaville in a 2025 AFCON Qualifiers fixture.

The game played out as the majority had hoped, with the Cranes securing a commanding 2-0 win, a result that took the team to the top of Group K.

Off the pitch, among the thousands who flocked to Namboole Stadium for the game, some had placards or jerseys bearing humorous messages.

One read, “Omutoonzi waffe yasalawo,” a popular phrase nowadays, which loosely translates as “It’s God who decides.”

Another famous phrase, “Why Are You Gay?” was also spotted at Namboole. This was asked by veteran journalist Simon Kaggwa Njala during his popular interview with Pepe Julian Onziema.

Another fan wore a jersey with the message “Mpuuga 500.” We can all guess what this refers to: the Shs1.7 billion ‘Service Award’ scandal, in which the former Leader of the Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga, is accused of having received Shs500 million.

A female fan was spotted wearing a kit with “Muka Gundi,” which loosely translates as “Wife of someone.”

Three female supporters wore jerseys branded “New Best Hotel Busega,” a hangout spot that often trends on social media. Don’t ask us what happens there — you should go and see for yourself.

Another viral photo after the Cranes game was that of singer Azawi. She had only her name on the back of her jersey, but many seemed more focused on the size of her backside, wondering how she had achieved it.
