Singer and songwriter Naava Grey, who is preparing for her first major concert at Kampala Serena Hotel, has said that she joined the music industry out of boredom but later realized it was her calling.

Speaking during the launch of her Valentine’s Day show, dubbed Naava Grey Live Symphonic Concert, Naava said that although her family is a musical family, she never initially imagined herself pursuing a career in music, as she wanted to be a banker. She added that, once in a while, she would sing with her siblings.

“I used to look up to my older siblings. They were perfect when it came to music, and they were far better than me,” Naava said.

However, as the last born among her four siblings, she became bored at home. One day, she decided to register and compete in the 2008 Tusker Project Fame, where she finished among the semifinalists.

It was during the training at Tusker Project Fame that she discovered she could write songs.

“But because of that stage, I got in touch with so many producers and artists. I met GNL Zamba, who later connected me to Steve Jean, the man behind Fenon Records and Fenon Events,” she said.

Naava explained that it was during this time that she started writing and recording songs.

“I wrote songs like Nteredde, Aliba Wani, Ninga Omuloge, and Sokalami, among others,” she said.

However, in 2016, she wanted to quit music due to the several challenges she encountered in the industry.

“I am a prayerful person. I prayed about the situation, and God helped me through. I resumed my music career because I was very passionate about it,” she said.

Naava called upon her fans to join her at Serena Hotel for her first major concert on February 14, 2025.

The singer promised to deliver a memorable show, as Fenon Events, a reputable events company, will handle her stage, sound, and lighting.

I&M Bank is also on board to support Naava Grey’s maiden experience concert for her fans.

Ordinary tickets go for Shs 150,000, while a table for eight people is priced at Shs 3 million.
