Former NRG radio presenter and deejay, DJ Alisha, has opened up about her recent hiatus from the entertainment scene and why she decided to step away from the nightlife.

Alisha, who left NRG in May last year to focus fully on her deejaying career, surprised many when she paused her public life a few months ago. She hinted at turning to church and leaving behind the nightlife, but in a recent podcast interview, she explained the real reason behind her break.

“I needed to refocus on myself. The nightlife and entertainment scene isn’t for the faint-hearted. It’s easy to get lost in all the chaos—the late nights, the crowds, the energy—and I just felt completely drained,” Alisha said.

She added that the demanding nature of the industry had her feeling like she was running on autopilot.

“I was doing everything without purpose. I had to take a step back, reconnect with myself, and figure out my path,” she explained during her appearance on The Ugandan Boy Talk Show podcast.

Alisha admitted that stepping away came with its challenges. “This was my life for a few years, so living differently felt strange. People were asking, ‘What’s she doing? What happened?’ But I knew why I was making these choices, and it felt like a fair price to pay.”

During her break, she says she unlearned certain habits, rediscovered her passions, and focused on leaving a positive impact and a legacy.

Now, DJ Alisha is preparing for her official return to the entertainment world. While excited, she admits there’s a bit of nervousness stepping back on stage.

“I feel brand new. I’m finding my niche again because what worked before won’t necessarily work now. But I’m slowly getting comfortable with the decks again,” she shared.

In a more personal reveal, Alisha also shared that she is a mother to a five-year-old son, though she chose not to disclose the identity of his father.
