The SHACK League, powered by Guinness, kicked off Season 3 on Sunday, September 28, and is already setting the standard for post-match vibes. Some of Uganda’s top artists lit up the weekend during the opening matchday at Legends Grounds in Kampala.

The day started with regular season football, and as evening approached, the atmosphere shifted as music took over.

City Groove Band kicked off the evening with an engaging performance that set the perfect tone for the night.

Later in the evening, the energy reached new heights as fans soaked up the vibe, with a Guinness in hand. One of the standout moments was the Kaba Challenge, performed by the SHACK alumni just before Kapeke took to the stage.

Quex Music added a vibrant set that had fans on their feet, especially when he performed his ever-green hit Kachumbali.

Karole Kasita brought fire to the stage, with a set that included her popular track Go, a collaboration with Elijah Kitaka, who was also in the house. Kitaka also wowed the audience with smooth vocals, including crowd favourites like Dawa among others.

NRG Radio’s DJ Vee ensured the party didn’t stop, keeping the tempo high with a tight mix of urban, afrobeat, and party anthems.

Meanwhile, earlier in the day on the pitch, the action was just as entertaining, with a packed fixture list delivering goals, drama, and early bragging rights, as football fans enjoyed cold Guinness throughout the afternoon.

Centennials opened strong with a 3–1 win over Dicos Brigade, with Kinya Emmanuel scoring twice and Kazibwe Pius adding one. Kasule George got the consolation for Dicos. They later beat Kaduce Warriors 2–0 through goals from Nathan Mangeni and Tim Kester.

Jabba Gurus edged Jabbarians 2–1, courtesy of Walukaga Herman and Zzinda Joseph. Basajja Bakame eased past Green Cave 3–0, with Kuwebwa Rodney scoring twice and Kato Peter adding the third.

Apettah Kings beat Mbookya Warriors 2–0 through goals from Brian Kayemba and Arinda Leonard, but later lost 1–0 to Ntuli Kings, with Kasasiira Brian scoring the winner.

Mbookya Warriors bounced back with a 4–1 win over Gosha Freaks. Matsiko Raymond scored twice, with Ssenyonga Brian and Senteza Joseph also on target. Kaka scored for Gosha.

Washington Outlaws edged Kawoo Rioters 1–0 thanks to Alinda Jotham, while Nkonde Kings and Fazo & Sonz ended in a goalless draw.

Victor Kiyimba, the president of the SHACK League, remarked that the opening weekend had set the perfect tone for what promises to be an unforgettable season.

“What we saw this weekend is exactly what the SHACK League is all about; competitive football, vibrant culture, and unforgettable experiences. We’re not just building a league; we’re building a movement that celebrates the spirit of community and excellence,” he said.

Mercy Atwongyeire, Project Manager for Premium Beer at Uganda Breweries Limited, said that Guinness is proud to be at the heart of such a dynamic and youth-driven experience.

“Guinness is proud to be part of moments that bring people together in celebration of culture, talent, and community. The SHACK League perfectly captures that spirit, combining sport, music, and energy in a way that truly resonates with our consumers,” she said.

With the season just kicking off, the SHACK League promises even more excitement in the weeks ahead, both on and off the pitch.
