Spotify Wrapped 2025 dropped last Wednesday, and as expected, social media exploded. WhatsApp statuses, Instagram stories, and X timelines were filled with the bright “Wrapped” posters—proof that Uganda is fully embracing the music-streaming wave.

But beyond the excitement, this year’s data delivered a major win for Swangz Avenue. The record label secured three of the top five most-streamed artists in Uganda, a clear sign that local music consumption is booming. Ugandan artists are owning their moment—collaborating more, releasing better bodies of work, and taking their sound beyond borders.

At the centre of this surge are three familiar names from Swangz Avenue: Elijah Kitaka, Vinka, and Azawi.

Elijah Kitaka Leads the Pack

Elijah Kitaka.

Elijah Kitaka is Uganda’s most-streamed artist of 2025, attracting 185,870 monthly listeners and securing two of the year’s biggest hits—“Ekyange” and “Dawa.” His project Bedroom Essentials also ranked as the third most-streamed album in Uganda.

Kitaka’s year has been packed with wins, including a successful show in Nairobi, multiple chart-topping singles, several award recognitions, and features on major collaborations like “Good Idea,” “Go (Remix),” and “PAMOJA,” the official CHAN anthem with Savara and Phina. His latest release, “Daily Bundle,” has already become a fan favourite.

Joshua Baraka’s Global Footprint & King Saha’s Loyal Wave

Joshua Baraka.

Joshua Baraka remains one of Uganda’s strongest international exports. His song “Wrong Places” was streamed in 183 countries, reinforcing his global appeal and showing how effortlessly his sound crosses borders.

On the home front, King Saha proved his staying power. With two sold-out concerts this year and a fiercely loyal fanbase, he earned a well-deserved place among Uganda’s most-streamed artists. His strong numbers highlight how organic support can boost an artist into the top tier.

Swangz Avenue’s Women Extend the Label’s Historic Run

Vinka.

The dominance continues with Azawi and Vinka, who helped solidify Swangz Avenue’s takeover.

Azawi commands 167,430 monthly listeners, and her album African Music is the second most-streamed album in Uganda this year. After signing a new five-year contract with Swangz, fans can expect more tours, albums, and creative projects.

Azawi.

Vinka, with 115,829 monthly listeners, kept the charts alive with hit singles, energetic performances, and viral dance challenges for songs like “Sirubula” and “Gukwase.” Her consistency continues to anchor her role as one of Uganda’s most influential pop artists. Together, they prove that the rise of Swangz Avenue’s women is not a trend—it’s a movement.

Kelele Digital: The Engine Behind the Success

Swangz Avenue’s strong showing is partly fuelled by its in-house distribution arm, Kelele Digital, which handles music distribution, publishing, and content monetisation. This strategy gives artists more control over their work and creates an efficient pipeline for releasing and promoting music.
