Star Times in Community Charity drive , donates scholastic requirements to Crane Educational Centre

With the Uganda National Primary Examinations a few weeks away, StarTimes Uganda partnered with other Chinese Film Production Companies to carry out a charity drive in Wakaliga Community. Crane Educational Centre, a School founded by Isaac Nabwana of the famous Wakaliwood was the beneficiary of the drive.

Star Times Uganda CEO Mr. Franklin Wang and the Public Relations Manager Cleopatra Koheirwe led the digital providers to the school. Crane Educational Centre was purposely founded to assist children whose parents in that community had failed to raise fees and requirements in the 2003 and it is now registered with classes from nursery to Primary seven.

Nabwana started this school in his community in 2003 with the intention of providing orphans with an opportunity to education and also assist to support children whose parents cannot afford to raise school fees or buy school requirements. It has classes from nursery to primary seven and a student population of about 375 children. The school fees structure tries to be as inclusive and as affordable as possible.

The Children who undergo Kungufu training both at school and in the community kept the guests entertained with an exciting Kungfu  performance during the visit.

The StarTimes PR Manager Cleopatra Koheirwe said, “StarTimes believes in empowering children in particular because they are the ones who will carry the mantle in years to come. We have had a relationship with this school for some time now and we try to provide what is necessary to help them excel. Seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces makes us happy too. Isaac is doing something positive for his community and we believe that our support encourages and motivates him to soar on. We do our best to contribute to the development of society.”

The other donor groups from China included National Radio and TV administration led by Zhu Zhengwen, Daylight Entertainment co. Limited led by Su Xiao, Hangzhou Jiaping Pictures Co. Limited led by Wu Jiaping and Ciwen Media Group Co. Limited let by Wei Lina.

The donors while addressing the pupils of Crane Educational Centre extended their gratitude towards the school management for their effort in promoting the Chinese Culture in Uganda and promised that in the near future they would work with Wakaliwood to create a stronger Film making and production relationship with Uganda.
