With the festive season upon us, the question of what to gift friends, family and colleagues is fast forming up.

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), decided to give the perfect answer to that question, by launching a festive gifting catalogue, that includes all its premium and reserve brands, priced at distributor rates.

The catalogue that was unveiled on Tuesday evening, October 27th, at an intimate event held at CK Distributors- Wandegeya, presided over by UBL Managing Director Felicité Nson.

The festive catalogue features brands including- Johnnie Walker, single malt scotch whiskies like The Singleton, liqueur, rum and Sherry like Baileys, tequilas like Don Julio, Gin like Tanqueray, Vodka and beers; giving consumers a range of options to consider as they prepare for the season’s celebrations.

The launch also marked the start of UBL’s 80 Days of Customer Appreciation, which forms part of the activities to commemorate the organisation’s 80 years in Uganda. During these 80 days, UBL will visit and engage with its customers and partners, listen to their experiences, recognise their contributions to the company’s journey over the years, and reward them for their continued support.

Speaking at the launch, Nson said the catalogue was intended to help simplify gift selection for their consumers during the festive season.

“This is the season to give. We all have special people who have made our year much lighter and better. This catalogue will help us select the perfect gifts at favourable prices,” she said.

The evening also turned attention to what gifting means beyond the presents themselves. Guests were asked what they were grateful for this year and why they would consider premium reserve brands when choosing gifts for loved ones. Most responses centered on appreciation, relationships and the desire to make the people who have been part of their year feel valued.

For Shiba Kamara, one of the guests at the launch, the festive season presents an opportunity to thank someone who has stood by her throughout the year.

“My mother has been my light throughout this year. She has been my biggest source of support and motivation, and I am planning to gift her a bottle of Baileys to show her my appreciation,” she said.

For Melanie Kaita, the National Advocacy Manager, the catalogue provides a practical guide for those considering premium drinks for festive occasions.

She said customers can explore the featured brands and have their gifts delivered to friends and family, making gifting easy and convenient.

Kaita took guests through a mentorship session, demonstrating the best accompaniments and the different ways the different brands can be savored.

Using Johnnie Walker Gold Label and The Singleton single malt whiskies as a benchmark; she illustrated how these can best be enjoyed alongside white chocolate and dehydrated apple slices.

But beyond the catalogue, guests also had an opportunity to experience the brands through a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) cocktail session supervised by professional mixologists. Participants learned how to prepare cocktails they could recreate at home, adding another dimension to the conversations around hosting and sharing during the holidays.

Preston Abel, a mixologist, emphasised that a good cocktail involves more than the choice of drink. Glassware, ice and garnishing all contribute to the experience, while locally sourced ingredients like dried fruits, like apples, oranges, lemons and strawberries can introduce fresh flavours.

The catalogue launch was a perfect way to announce the arrival of the festive period, when gifting and hospitality activities feature prominently in consumer plans.

The festive catalogue can be accessed at all UBL distributors or by calling the UBL hotline, 0770581534, and it comes with convenience options like free delivery, bottle engraving, a message card, special pricing and giftbag.
