Ugandan designer Jonjo Fashions showcases in Mombasa

He might be fresh on the scene but Ugandan designer, Joshua Kiyimba Patrick is surely stamping his footprints on the industry, one showcase at a time.

The designer closed the year with a holiday-themed showcase in Mombasa at Pwani International Fashion Awards.

Kiyimba, who is known for his expressive and head-turning pieces showcased at the event that included designers from across the region, including Tanga Designs, Jamil Walji, Eve Couture, Jonjo and others.

Founded in 2015, the PIFWA awards have since brought young entrepreneurs in the fashion industry together to showcase their works of art and change the face of fashion in Africa and all over the globe with a focus on fashion tourism.

The awards harness the curiosity and support from the regional fashion, and lifestyle arenas while attracting fashion lovers from the region.

The recent edition of the event brought together international prominent celebrities, media associates, and potential buyers.

“Getting on a platform like this is surely remarkable to me and the fashion brand. A lot of the other designers I met were very welcoming, and shared a lot of wisdom with me, which is an added plus to my social capital for sure,” he added.
