Ugandan Climate Activist Ariokot Faith Patricia has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest tree-hugging session.

This achievement surpasses the previous record of 10 hours and 5 minutes set by the United States’ Adrienne Long in 2020.

Ariokot had initially attempted to break the same record on December 8th but encountered a few challenges, including camera glitches. However, this morning, she restarted her quest for the world record at Hotel May 7 in Soroti City.

Dressed in a black t-shirt and khaki trousers, the activist commenced the challenge at around 6:30 am.

As of now, she has been hugging the tree for the last 11 hours and is currently on the journey to establish her own record.

Meanwhile, Ariokot’s official recognition as a Guinness World Record holder awaits the submission and review of evidence to the Guinness World Records, a process that typically takes a couple of weeks. Once validated, Ariokot’s achievement will be officially acclaimed on the global stage.

She now joins Mama D, whose real name is Dorcus Bashema Kirabo, who on Thursday set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cookathon and is also awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records.
