Little Hands Go Green, a nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental education, has partnered with the National Forest Authority (NFA) to empower children as environmental agents.
The partnership was announced at an event held at the NFA Head Offices in Bugoloobi, attended by nine schools, including Brighton Junior School, Mother Manjeri Primary School, and Kitende Modern among others.
Stuart Maniraguha, Acting Executive Director of the National Forestry Authority – Uganda, praised the children’s enthusiasm for nature, saying, “Your love for the environment is inspiring, and I urge you to continue being responsible stewards of our natural resources. The environment is crucial to human livelihood, and it’s essential that we prioritize its protection and preservation for future generations.”
Joseph Masembe, CEO and founder of Little Hands Go Green, emphasized the importance of teaching children environmental responsibility, stating, “By instilling environmental values in children, we empower them to become green ambassadors and agents of change. Our goal is to help children develop a lifelong love for nature and become responsible stewards of the environment.”
As part of the partnership, each attending school received tree seedlings for planting, symbolizing their commitment to environmental conservation. The event is a precursor to the annual Green Festival, scheduled for September 1 at Lugogo Ground.
The Guest of Honour is expected to be the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni. The Green Festival is a fun-filled environmental event for children and their parents, where every child walks away with a free fruit tree seedling to take home and plant.
Through this partnership, Little Hands Go Green aims to expand its reach and impact, educating more children about environmental care and conservation. By working together, both organizations hope to inspire a new generation of environmental leaders and promote a culture of sustainability in Uganda.
