Last evening (Saturday, November 9th), the Chef’s Table with Singleton delighted Kampala’s gourmet enthusiasts with a memorable second edition, at an intimate setting at Kardamom & Koffee.

The exclusive event attracted an intimate crowd of 40 guests, who gathered for an evening of indulgent flavours and soulful music, offering a luxury dining experience elevated by the world’s number one single malt whisky- Singleton.

At the heart of the evening was Chef Sho, who brought guests “back to school” with a playful, refined twist on nostalgic boarding school meals. His three-course menu stirred up memories of simpler times, but with a touch of gourmet sophistication.

The night kicked off with a starter, that featured sweet potatoes paired with a peanut butter sauté, a nod to familiar comfort foods, but with a delightful, inventive twist. For the main course, Chef Sho served up posho cake with a “beefy twist,” adding depth and richness to the classic meal. Dessert was a refreshing take on pastries, providing a light and satisfying finish.

A bottle of Singleton whisky was placed on each table, and it was clear it complemented each course, enhancing flavours and adding a refined balance to the dining experience.

Speaking about his inspiration, Chef Sho shared, “High school was tonight’s inspiration. My goal was to take people on a journey; give them a taste of their childhood, but transformed in a way that reminds them how good life can be. The joy in the room confirmed I’ve achieved exactly that.”

Bersi Mesgna, the event organizer, remarked that the Chef’s Table is about crafting unforgettable experiences that blend exquisite dining with moments that touch the heart. “Seeing everyone engaged in the experience, sharing stories, and enjoying their meal along with Singleton, was a reminder of why we do this,” she said.

Singleton’s presence, as always, added an elegant touch to the occasion. A dedicated Singleton bar offered guests bottomless cocktails throughout the evening, allowing everyone to enjoy a continuous flow of the unique, expertly crafted single malt whisky.

Christine Kyokunda, the Singleton Brand Manager, highlighted the brand’s commitment to pairing with fine cuisine, noting, “Singleton is all about creating unforgettable memories and savouring the moment, and tonight was a perfect example of how food and whisky, together create a unique luxury experience. Events like Chef’s Table allow us to bring something exceptional to our consumers, showing how Singleton complements and elevates every culinary occasion.”

Kabera Angel Amahoro serenaded the guests with an enchanting acoustic set throughout the dinner. Her soulful, melodic voice lent the perfect ambiance that evidently created an atmosphere that was both relaxing and uplifting for the guests.
