As the Nyege Nyege Festival enters its third day, Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has distributed over 4,220 liters of free drinking water to revellers. This initiative is part of their ongoing campaign to promote responsible drinking, encouraging festivalgoers to moderate alcohol consumption and stay hydrated while enjoying the vibrant activities on offer.

The campaign, spearheaded at the Responsible Drinking Sensitization Pit Stop, integrates fun and engaging activities aimed at creating awareness about positive drinking habits. Festival attendees have participated in karaoke challenges and trivia sessions, with lucky winners walking away with practical goodies such as water bottles to reinforce the message of drinking in moderation.

UBL’s efforts at Nyege Nyege align with their broader commitment to fostering responsible drinking as a key pillar of their 10-Year Spirit of Progress action plan. Through innovative and interactive outreach, the brewery is addressing critical issues such as binge drinking, underage drinking, and drink driving.

Speaking at the festival, Brenda Kobutungi, UBL’s Corporate Relations Manager for Positive Drinking, emphasized the importance of leveraging platforms like Nyege Nyege to inspire change.

“Nyege Nyege offers a unique opportunity to influence and motivate consumers to embrace responsible alcohol consumption. We are highlighting the importance of moderation and educating against underage drinking and binge drinking through tools like DRINKiQ.com, empowering attendees to make informed choices throughout the four-day event,” Kobutungi said.

As part of their efforts, UBL has also spotlighted their Wrong Side of the Road campaign, an initiative designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drink driving. By press time, over 500 revellers had engaged with this campaign and demonstrated a strong understanding of its life-saving message.

UBL’s presence at the Nyege Nyege Festival showcases their commitment to “doing business the right way,” fostering a culture of responsible drinking while ensuring that revellers can enjoy the festival safely. Through innovative campaigns and community engagement, they continue to lead the way in promoting positive drinking behaviors across Uganda.

As the festival unfolds, UBL remains steadfast in its mission to encourage moderation and responsibility, ensuring that attendees not only celebrate the music and culture but also prioritize their well-being.
