On Saturday evening, Mediterraneo Restaurant in Kololo, transformed into a haven for whisky lovers, as it hosted World Whisky Day celebration, in partnership with Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), through their single-malt whisky brand- The Singleton.

Known for its rustic charm and exquisite Italian cuisine, Mediterraneo provided the perfect setting for an evening dedicated to discovery, indulgence, and shared appreciation of one of the world’s most cherished whisky.

Guests were welcomed to a carefully crafted dining experience, where each course was paired with a double pour of Singleton 12-Year-Old, as well as Singleton-inspired cocktails, designed to elevate the flavours of both the food and the whisky.

The menu took guests on what could only be described as a culinary escape. Among the crowd favourites, was the imported sirloin steak, seared with black pepper and rosemary, for a rich juicy finish, paired with Singleton 12, and slow-cooked pork ribs, gently seasoned with salt and pepper.

Beyond the dining, guests were invited to learn more about the rich legacy of The Singleton, through a guided mentorship session led by a whisky enthusiast.

He walked participants through the brand’s origins, production methods, and unique tasting notes. At the Singleton booth, visitors sampled both the Singleton 12 — known for its smooth, fruity profile, with hints of honey and vanilla — and the Singleton 15, a more mature expression, with deeper notes of spiced oak and dried fruit, ideal for seasoned whisky drinkers.

”This World Whisky Day, we sought to offer something beyond the expected, a celebration of flavour, craftsmanship, and connection. Partnering with Mediterraneo allowed us to show up in a way that’s true to the spirit of The Singleton which is; approachable, rich in taste, and always memorable,” said Christine Kyokunda, the Singleton Brand Manager at UBL.

Adding to the evening’s charm, was the soothing live entertainment led by a grand pianist, a violinist, and a cellist, whose performance gave the night a soft, magical lilt.

As guests sipped and savoured, the trio performed elegant renditions of classics like “Clair de Lune”, “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran, and a soulful medley of Ugandan favourites songs, which filled the garden terrace with a nice warm feeling.

As the world marked World Whisky Day, guests in Kampala joined the toast, on a beautiful evening, filled with rich storytelling and an amazing experience.
