Over the weekend, premium tequila brand Don Julio brought together some of East Africa’s most influential tastemakers for an unforgettable celebration of World Tequila Day set against the stunning backdrop of Mbudya Island in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Uganda’s Sheilah Gashumba and DJ Dash were among the select group of East African influencers flown in for the Tequila Island Experience, a curated escape that blended laid-back luxury, coastal vibes, and the signature Don Julio flavour.

Hosted on the sun-drenched shores of Mbudya, the event served up premium cocktails, indulgent cuisine, and stylish beachside moments designed for both relaxation and connection. The exclusive guest list included creators and culture-shapers from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, all brought together to toast to life, good vibes, and the spirit of tequila.

Don Julio Uganda Brand Manager Judie Nandekya described the experience as a celebration of tequila culture, lifestyle, and regional creativity.

“Tequila Island was a celebration of premium tequila, East African culture, and World Tequila Day, an immersive, unforgettable escape by Don Julio. We brought together great music, bold flavour, and the soft life spirit that defines our brand. Seeing Ugandan talent like Sheila and Dash present made the experience even more special,” she said.

As the sun dipped over the horizon, the experience flowed effortlessly into golden hour cocktails and chilled conversations. From expertly crafted Don Julio margaritas to bold tequila-infused mixes, the liquid experience remained at the heart of the celebration, smooth, flavourful, and unforgettable. The cocktails kept flowing, energy stayed high, and the night wrapped up with a toast to unforgettable memories, the kind only Don Julio can create.

With events like these, Don Julio continues to lead the way in shaping premium lifestyle experiences in East Africa, one smooth pour at a time.
