Brunch in Kampala has officially found its new standard. On Saturday, the world’s leading single malt whisky- The Singleton, took over Dim the Lights in Naalya, with the Vintage & NuBeats Druncheon, serving up a feast where whisky, food, and music intertwined, to create an experience that was nothing short of exquisite.

The highlight of the culinary journey was the tender, rich, juicy- slow-cooked lamb, perfectly paired with The Singleton’s smooth single malt. Guests discovered how the whisky’s layered notes could elevate every bite; whether savoured neat, or mixed into one of the bespoke cocktails, curated exclusively for the occasion.

But the indulgence didn’t stop there. The menu unfolded like a story of flavours; starters, such as roasted tomato and basil soup, and quinoa with roasted veggies, set the tone.

The mains followed with vegetable rice, pilau, mashed Irish potatoes, and sauces like a hearty beef goulash,  alongside favourites like tender lamb sausage and sticky pork ribs.

To crown it all, desserts brought sweetness to the table, from fresh watermelon and pineapple slices, to red velvet cake, cheesecake bites, cinnamon bread, and ice creams, in classic and quirky flavours like bubblegum and pistachio.

“The Singleton is all about discovering new dimensions of flavour,” said Simon Lapyem, Brand Manager for The Singleton at Uganda Breweries Limited. “At the Druncheon, our mission was to take our guests on a journey where whisky isn’t just a drink, it’s part of the meal, the mood, and the lifestyle.”

For the hosts, the goal was simple; to create a brunch that lingered long after the last bite. “Food is an experience, and with Singleton, we wanted to give people something to savour and remember,” said Valentine Kaduka- the Manager at Dim the Lights.

And the mood delivered. Dim the Lights transformed into a premium playground, with its warm glow setting the stage, as DJs Hanz and Bryan blended 90s RnB, vintage grooves, and dancehall anthems.

Friends laughed over bottomless plates, raised glasses of The Singleton, and carried conversations well into the evening.

So if you’re searching for a Saturday brunch plot with flavour, style, and unforgettable pairings, Dim the Lights is exactly where you need to be.
