As the world continues to evolve, schools are increasingly embracing innovative ways to prepare students for 21st-century challenges — with a focus on sustainability, financial literacy, and responsible citizenship.

To support this mission, ICEA LION, one of Uganda’s leading insurance and investment groups, has continued its Go-Green Campaign, an initiative designed to nurture environmentally conscious and financially literate young people.

On Thursday, 6 November 2025, the company visited Peace High School, where it planted 300 trees — 80 fruit trees within the school compound and 220 trees on the school farm.

The Go-Green Campaign, launched earlier this year, aims to plant 2,400 trees across selected schools in Uganda while integrating financial literacy sessions to equip students with essential money management skills. The initiative not only tackles climate change but also promotes sustainable thinking among the youth.

So far, the campaign has reached several institutions, including St. Mark’s College Namagoma (60 trees), City High School (100 trees), Mother Kevin Primary School (400 trees), and Padre Pio Primary School and Exodus College in Wakiso District, which together received over 1,000 trees.

Speaking at the event, Moses Mugalu, ICEA LION’s Communication and Marketing Lead, urged students to take responsibility for nurturing the seedlings.

“As we give you these seedlings today, we are certain you will nurture them into the kind of future we all envision — clean, green, and sustainable,” he said.

In addition to the tree planting, Peace High School received eight water purifiers donated by Spouts of Water, an organisation working in partnership with the Ministry of Water and Environment, the World Health Organization (WHO), and independent laboratories. The ceramic water filters require no electricity, charcoal, or firewood, helping households and schools cut costs while protecting the environment.

Spouts of Water will continue extending this support to other schools under its partnership with ICEA LION.

As the campaign progresses, ICEA LION remains committed to achieving its target of planting 2,400 trees by the end of the year and empowering Uganda’s youth to build a greener, smarter, and more sustainable future.
