United Bank for Africa (UBA) Uganda, through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, the UBA Foundation, has brought Christmas cheer to children at Busoro Christ Church Orphanage in Fort Portal, donating essential household and welfare items to support their well-being during the festive season and beyond.

The UBA delegation was warmly received by the Orphanage Director, Bruce Nyanka, together with the children, whose excitement and joy set a heartwarming tone for the visit. The outreach was led by the Chief Operating Officer of UBA Uganda, Claudia Appia-Asiamah, accompanied by the Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Hoziana Niyonsaba Semanda, the Fort Portal Branch Manager, Wilber Ndinabo, and members of staff from the branch.
Speaking during the visit, Claudia Appia-Asiamah commended Nyanka for his unwavering dedication and selfless service to the children under his care. She acknowledged the significant responsibility involved in nurturing and providing for the children and praised the orphanage for carrying out its mission with faith, resilience, and compassion. She encouraged the children and caregivers and extended prayers and goodwill for continued provision and blessings.

Hoziana Niyonsaba Semanda described the visit as deeply moving, noting the happiness and sense of security evident among the children. She applauded Nyanka for restoring hope and dignity to children without parental care and emphasized that the donation forms part of UBA Foundation’s annual outreach programmes. The initiative is implemented in over 20 African countries where UBA operates, reflecting the Bank’s strong commitment to community upliftment and sustainable social impact.
In his remarks, Nyanka, who started by sharing his person story of how he became a total orphan at 13 years, expressed heartfelt appreciation to UBA Uganda for what he described as “love thoughtfully packaged for the children.” He noted that the support came at a timely moment during the festive season, when the children are on holiday, describing it as God’s provision. He thanked the Bank for its continued support to the communities in which it operates, adding that such acts of kindness help sustain the orphanage’s mission and inspire hope for the future.
