On 22nd November, FDC president Kizza Besigye issued a 10 day ultimatum  to the president ordering for re-opening of the University. As days draw closer, the government has since maintained silence about the ultimatum. They have neither responded nor made promises of adherence.

While speaking on a local radio station earlier today, the Kawempe Councillor, Muhammad Segirinya revealed the plan B in case the ultimatum is not adhered to. FDC plans to hold a massive demonstration that they hope parents of affected students too will participate in.

‘’The demonstration will include parents and every one will contribute shs1000 which we shall distribute to the striking lecturers inside the University,’’ Segirinya said.

He  also noted out that the demo that shall be led by opposition leader Dr.Kizza Besigye and MP Mubarak Munyagwa will proceed with a tour around the university together with the parents.

The government has maintained its stance that will allow the university closed till February to enable investigations into issues of the university to be resolved as a long-term strategy.

We await the drama.
