Uganda Cranes captain Geoffrey Massa has hanged his boots!
The prolific striker has retired from international football. According to The New Vision, he revealed that he is ready to start a new chapter
“I have decided to retire from the national team after consulting with my family and I believe it’s the right time to start a new chapter”, he stated.
He expressed his gratitude for the national team and the fans.
“It has been a wonderful experience for me and am grateful to have served my country at the best of my abilities”, he stated.
At this time of his retirement, the professional footballer who captained Cranes at 2017 Afcon has no club following cancellation of his contract by South Africa’s Baroka FC this year. He is in a hunt for a new club.
Massa started his professional career at Police FC in 2004. Due to his glittering display, he landed a deal to join Al-Masry in 2005. Since then, he has played for several clubs; El-Shams, Jomo Cosmos, Itesalat, Yenicami Agdelen, University of Pretoria, Bloemfontein Celtic and Barako.
He is expected in the country today to give an official announcement.
