Following a heart breaking revelation from doctors at Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services in Uganda (CoRSU) in Kisubi that Nigerian Express FC defender will not play football again, youth minister and club chairperson Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi has come out to say that the club has done enough to save the player from the recent bad condition of his broken bone.

“We did our part as Express FC and we took him to Mengo where he was treated and later released,” she said.

She further asserted that the player is free to go back to his home land for recovery and rehabilitation. “Now, the world is big. If it means him going back home, to breath fresh air it’s okay because we are in recess. Even the Cameroonian went home so. So it’s open. The rest is beyond and just one and one but as a club, its part was played.” explained the minister

Nakiwala also distanced the club from the ongoing fundraising saying; “We are not responsible for the ongoing fundraising. I have received calls of people asking whether we have received the money. If it goes beyond, we shall inform Police because collection of money is illegal. At the end of the day, I don’t want people to come to me for accountability.”

According to doctors at CoRSU hospital, Onyebuchi will now have to undergo 8-9 surgery operations meaning the estimated Shs10m fundraise will not be enough. Currently, Uganda Premier League committee and singer Eddy Kenzo have contributed Shs2m and Shs500000 respectively.
