We understand that many of you want to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but you may be on a tight budget, especially since some of you have just sent the kids back to school.

That should not force you to cancel your Valentine’s Day plans and stay home alone.

Here are some of our recommendations for how you can celebrate Valentine’s Day on a budget:

Have a Movie Night at Home

You don’t have to go out to have a great Valentine’s Day. Instead, consider a movie night at home. When planning your romantic movie night, make sure to pick the right kind of film and set the mood with candles or decorations. You can even pick up some inexpensive movie snacks to upgrade the experience.

Cook a Meal Together

Cooking a meal is a great way to bond. Take your time picking a recipe and going shopping together. Whether you whip up a deluxe meal or it flops, you’ll share some great memories.

Make a Romantic Playlist

Set the mood for your Valentine’s Day by making a romantic playlist with your date. Music is a great way to connect, so come up with a theme and add songs to your playlist. While putting together the perfect playlist, you can also plan your next activity for Valentine’s Day.

Simple Dinner

Enjoy a light and simple dinner, then head out to a local hotspot for drinks, dessert, and dancing.

Intimacy

Intimacy is needed by both parties in a relationship, so if you feel that this element has been neglected, it could be just the thing to reestablish this Valentine’s. Consider ways to incorporate some sauciness into the night. Could you teach your partner a dance that calls for closeness? Check out a romantic movie to watch together.
