Burkina Faso became the first team to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations finals, joining hosts Morocco in the 24-team tournament following a 2-0 win in Burundi on Sunday.

But who are the other teams on the verge of qualification this week?

Uganda Cranes players celebrating at Namboole on Friday, October 11.

Uganda Cranes and South Africa, both in Group K and tied on seven points, can qualify for the AFCON finals on Tuesday if they win their respective fixtures. The Cranes play South Sudan in Juba, while South Africa travels to Congo.

Senegal, which is in the same group as Burkina Faso (Group L) with seven points from three matches, will also qualify if they win away to Malawi on Tuesday.

Egypt, which leads Group C with nine points, will also qualify if they beat Mauritania. Nigeria, who play Libya in Group D, need a win to qualify for the finals.

Algeria in Group E and Angola in Group F are also one win away from qualification. Similarly, reigning champions Ivory Coast and the Democratic Republic of Congo need maximum points on Tuesday to be among the 24 teams that will be in Morocco next year.

Cameroon, who are in Uganda to face Kenya, also need a win to secure a spot, as does Mali, who must beat Guinea-Bissau.

The top two teams in the 12 qualification pools advance to the finals, which will be played from December 21 next year to January 18, 2026, except for Morocco’s Group B, where one other team will qualify.
