One of Prophet Smauel Kakande’s rice farm projects has been halted by environmental watch dog National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA). NEMA swung into action after it found out the prophet diverted his attention away from rice growing to sand mining among other projects causing harm to locals to the area.
According to reports, the natives of the area have been struggling with acute water shortage after the wetlands were massively reclaimed in the illegal sand mining exercise. NEMA was forced to revoke the license.
The prophet has been recently in controversial news after he introduced holy rice at Shs50K a kilo. With the little Economics knowledge, a fall in supply leads to increase in demand. If this demand supply analogy is to be applied in this NEMA scenario, it would not be surprising if the price of holy rice shoots to further unholy price after this move.
Pastor Kakande ventured in agriculture way back in 2007. He has been engaged in different farming types ranging from fish farming, maize plantations and rice growing investing over $2m (Shs. 7 billion ). He has farms across the country Kibaale,Luweero, Masindi ,Pakwach and Lwera wetland on Masaka Road.
