Dr. Stella Nyanzi says the now viral “pads for Uganda” campaign is not about her but rather for the girls of this country that cannot afford the pads. She was speaking in a Facebook live video with Gaetano. She sipped Lucozade, a popular sports energy drink while spewing very bitter words in the same breath! The allure of the juice tingling on her tongue could not lessen the strength of her venomous strikes at the government.

“FDC women menstruate, NRM women menstruate, Kabaka Yekka women menstruate. Independent women like me menstruate. This is not about me but the girls of this country”, she stated.

She then sipped the juice again as her tongue got a dose of therapeutic energy from the verbal work out.

The controversial MUK lecturer opened her deep scars as she blamed the government for the death of her parents. She claimed that had it not been for the ill state of health sector, her parents would be alive. She cited the death of her father, a medical doctor who failed to access drugs after he fell ill upcountry and her mother who collapsed and could not be rushed to hospital because there was no ambulance near the village home. She died 45 minutes after collapsing. She believes if there was an ambulance, her mother’s life would have been rescued by emergency care.

She thus called upon Ugandans to donate to the cause and help the girls who are unable to get pads. Her campaign is growing stronger with over Shs7.5m collected on the go fund me page.

Money is also being collected via mobile money.

This was in a Facebook live video moderated by Gaetano. It was broadcast live on her Facebook page.
