Singer Catherine Kusasira has hit back at critics after she was recently entrusted with delivering condolences on behalf of President Yoweri Museveni. Catherine was trolled on social media with many users labelling her as ‘minsiter of condolences’ after she delivered Shs20m to the bereaved family of Yasin Kavuma and Muhammad Kirumira.

Critics argued that she was not the best person to represent the president. Others suggested that since the bereaved are Muslims, it would have been proper to assign minister without portfolio, Hajji Abdul Nadduli or a respected government official.

While speaking on a local television station, Kusasira stated she was given the assignment on merit and she played her part as instructed.

“I was called and I didn’t know the amount of money. All I was told was to deliver the money to the families of the deceased. I played my part and delivered the money as witnessed by the media. I grew up as an orphan so I know the pain one goes through after losing a beloved”, she stated.

Kusasira revealed that she is a mobiliser for the party and will be ready to take other assignments when called forth. She stated that her critics will not deter her from working for the National Resistance Movement(NRM).

Catherine was one of the acts in the NRM campaign song, ‘Tubonga Nawe.’
