Singer Micheal Mugwanya alias King Micheal has come out and narrated how he got arrested and detained by Police over the weekend for violating the SOPs as he was found in a bar past curfew time.

According to Michael, before the arrest, he was watching a premier league match between Southampton Vs Aston Villa at his bar in Kampala.

The singer said that after the match ended he went into the parking lot to ride home and that is when police raided the place and arrested him and other customers.

He claimed that he accepted to be arrested but he asked officers to take him to a good police station and also requested them to treat him like a VIP which they did.

“When the police officer arrested us I asked him where he was taking us and he said Kibuye and then I asked him to take us to Nateete because Kibuye is a small Police station and he accepted.

When we reached Nateete I asked them to treat me like a VIP because I didn’t want to be put in the same police cell with other people. They gave me a room, a mattress, a pillow, and a blanket,” he said.

On Monday, the singer was sentenced to community work by the Makindye Court Chief Magistrate after pleading guilty to committing the offense.
