Anne Whitehead has spoken out on claims by renowned activist Stella Nyanzi that she was impregnated by exiled Ugandan novelist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija.

Whitehead, who formerly worked in communications and political activism in Uganda before moving back to the UK, accuses Kakwenza and his friends, including researcher Stella Nyanzi of ‘twisting things’ after blocking her on social media.

On Thursday, Nyanzi came out with a thread of sensational claims that Whitehead was impregnated by Kakwenza.

“After I told her he is still married to his wife, who is raising his children in Uganda,” said Nyanzi in one of her posts.

She further posted, “She wants monogamy with a married polyamorous man suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).”

Nyanzi’s claims come just days after Whitehead publicly accused Kakwenza of impregnating multiple women both in Uganda and abroad before abandoning them to suffer as single mothers.

In an interview with Chimpreports today, Whitehead said that she fears backlash from the self-exiled writer.

“It is frustrating that after blocking me and threatening to silence me, now he and his friends are saying things that I want to correct, but anything I say now will be used against me, so I must keep quiet,” said Whitehead.

When questioned about the pregnancy claims, Whitehead said, “I am in an impossible position to talk to the media.” It is not the right thing to do.

“I have received threatening messages after issuing a warning to women on social media about how this man lies to women, manipulates, exploits, and emotionally abuses them.”

Whitehead further revealed that how she doubts whether the victims of Kakwenza will find the courage to speak out publicly against him.

“It is now for all the other women to come out and tell the stories themselves, though I understand they fear doing so because of the misogynistic and political backlash,” she said.
