Media personality Caroline Marcah has opened up about her journalism journey, revealing that she once worked for a Christian-based television station where her monthly compensation came in the form of prayers from the station’s pastor.

Marcah says that she joined Life TV, located in Nsambya, during her Senior 6 vacation, after running away from her parents’ home.

In addition to her job as a presenter on the popular show “Outer Plug,” she also pursued acting in plays at the National Theatre. However, despite her dedication and hard work, Marcah disclosed that she never received a salary throughout her entire year at the station.

Instead, Marcah and her colleagues would receive prayers from the TV owner, Pastor Tom Sembera, as their monthly compensation. Each month’s end, Pastor Sembera would offer prayers for their well-being and extend gratitude for their commitment to God’s work, according to Marcah’s interview with Ruth Kalibbala on YouTube.

When asked why she stayed at the station for such an extended period without monetary compensation, Marcah attributed it to her unwavering faith and optimistic outlook.

“Growing up in a Catholic family, I held onto the belief that things would eventually improve,” she said.

Her resilience paid off when she had a fortunate encounter with the Goodlyfe crew (Radio & Weasel), as the station was located near their base. According to Marcah, the duo recognized her talent and played a crucial role in jumpstarting her career.

Marcah has since then managed to work at several TV stations which include Spark TV and Bukedde TV. She’s currently a presenter of “Tumbiza Fire” on Pearl Magic.
