A video featuring city lawyer Edwin Karugire, who is President Yoweri Museveni’s son-in-law through his marriage to Natasha Museveni, is circulating on social media. In the video, Karugire recounts his ‘challenging’ experience during his first meeting with the President.

Karugire described the encounter as the longest 30 minutes of his life. According to him, Natasha, who was his girlfriend at the time, invited him to meet her parents, which he agreed to.

Although he did not specify the date of the meeting, Karugire mentioned that upon arrival at Nakasero State House, he found the President, First Lady Janet Museveni, and Natasha in the living room.

Initially confident, tensions began to rise when both the First Lady and Natasha left the room, leaving him alone with the President, who was watching a World War II documentary.

“Fortunately, I had practiced my presentation and memorized my script, so I began speaking. However, he raised his hand and instructed me to remain silent as he was engrossed in the documentary,” Karugire recounted.

He continued, “That silence felt like the longest 30 minutes of my life.”

When the documentary concluded, Museveni inquired whether Karugire consumed alcohol.

“By that point, I was feeling dehydrated, so I gave him all possible responses at once. I said something like, ‘I don’t…I used to…but I am stopping…'” Karugire explained.

Museveni proceeded to lecture him on the effects of alcohol, emphasizing how it renders people unconscious and highlighting his own resilience due to never having been rendered unconscious.

The President even proposed a challenge to Karugire to prove his strength.

“However, I politely declined,” Karugire stated.

Karugire and Natasha tied the knot in 2000 and are parents, although their children have been shielded from the public eye.
