Singer Bebe Cool, whose real name is Moses Ssali, has revealed that he no longer considers the music business his main job, ever since he had the opportunity to interact with business moguls like Sudhir Ruparelia and Ham Kiggundu.

Speaking in an interview on a local YouTube channel, Bebe Cool stated that recently he has rarely performed, as he realized that the ‘small’ earnings in the music industry would not generate the generational wealth he is pursuing.

He claimed that he no longer performs for less than Shs 10 million, which he feels is a fair reflection of his worth.

“I don’t perform in music anymore because it is a choice I made. I turn down gigs because I ask for a lot of money. I cannot perform for less than Shs 10 million,” Bebe Cool explained.

He added that he also rarely performs because he has lost the excitement for performing.

“You can pay me Shs 200 million to perform at a show, but after receiving the money, I start seeing the performance as a burden,” he said.

The singer encouraged fellow artists to change their mindset about wealth, urging them to pursue generational wealth instead of settling for small earnings in the music industry, which vanish as soon as someone stops performing.

“I realized that among us musicians, the money we are making is what I would call childish money. We have not been able to make real money,” Bebe said.

He added, “We have to involve ourselves in projects that will bring in a lot of money, like investing in construction and production, among other ventures.”
