Renowned gospel artist and former Member of Parliament Judith Babirye has urged pregnant Ugandan women with financial means to consider securing Canadian visas and giving birth in Canada, citing numerous advantages for both mothers and children.

In an interview, Babirye explained the long-term benefits of giving birth in Canada, including automatic citizenship for children under the country’s jus soli principle (citizenship by birthright).

“If you want to secure a better future for your children and benefit from the opportunities Canada offers, you need to plan strategically,” she advised.

Babirye further stated the importance of persistence in obtaining a Canadian visa, noting that the process might take time but is ultimately worthwhile.

“Sometimes the visa takes too long to come out, but you must not give up. This is a decision that could change your child’s life forever,” she said.

She also elaborated on the financial support available to families in Canada, including government grants to assist with child-rearing expenses.

“There are so many benefits you can get from having children in Canada. The system ensures that your children will not suffer,” she said.

Babirye’s perspective comes from personal experience. In April 2019, she left Uganda’s Parliament and her marriage, reportedly to protect herself and her unborn child. She relocated to Canada, where she later gave birth to a baby boy.

Her comments shed light on the opportunities associated with childbirth in Canada, particularly for parents who want to secure a stable future for their children.

Oh, this might be the reason singer Sheebah Karungi decided to go to Canada, where it was reported over the weekend that she gave birth to a baby boy. Sheebah has yet to officially announce the birth of her child.

Why Giving Birth in Canada Matters

Canada’s jus soli principle ensures that any child born on Canadian soil automatically becomes a citizen, regardless of their parents’ nationality. This citizenship opens doors to various benefits, including access to free healthcare, quality education, and long-term social welfare programs.

Additionally, Canada offers generous child benefits, including monthly financial support to help parents with the costs of raising their children. These benefits extend to both citizens and permanent residents, making Canada an attractive destination for families seeking stability and opportunities for their children.
