Doreen Gift Bujjingo, daughter of controversial pastor Aloysius Bugingo and his estranged wife Teddy Naluswa, has been awarded a prestigious scholarship to pursue further studies in the United States.

Currently serving as an ICT Infrastructure Engineer at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance in Kampala, Doreen received the scholarship under the 2025 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders.

The fellowship is part of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), which recognizes and supports outstanding young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa who are making significant contributions to their communities.

As part of the program, Doreen will attend Arizona State University, where she will focus on leadership in public management.

“Doreen is passionate about driving Uganda’s digital transformation through projects that expand broadband connectivity, promote digital skilling, and enhance e-service delivery,” a statement from the program noted.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Makerere University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in the same field at the same institution. At Makerere, she also serves as the Coordinator of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Hub, where she actively promotes educational empowerment to address socio-economic challenges.

The Mandela Washington Fellowship, launched in 2014 as the flagship program of YALI, aims to empower young African leaders through leadership training, academic coursework, professional development, and global networking opportunities.

In related news, reports suggest that Doreen Gift Bujjingo is also preparing for her upcoming wedding.
