Musician George Kigozi, better known as Geosteady, has revealed that 2025 will remain one of the most defining years of his life.

The singer, who spent much of it in a rehabilitation centre battling substance abuse, says he is finally on the road to recovery and determined to rebuild his future.

Geosteady checked into rehab earlier this year with the support of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) and close friends. He completed the programme last month and is now back to making music and focusing on his wellbeing.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Sanyuka TV this morning, the Owooma hitmaker opened up for the first time about his struggles with drugs, mental health, and family.

“I also want to speak honestly about mental health and addiction,” Geosteady said. “Many people use substances for different reasons, some to escape stress, others to work harder. For me, I started using substances in 2024 because I thought it would help me work harder. At first, you feel confident; you can push through days without sleep.”

He explained that addiction takes many forms, and his time in rehab exposed him to the different struggles people face.

“Addiction isn’t just about drugs. In rehabilitation, I’ve met people struggling with food addiction, sleep disorders, bipolar disorder, and depression,” he noted.

Grateful for the support he has received, the singer said he is now focused on healing and taking life one step at a time.

Away from music and recovery, Geosteady also spoke about his daughters with ex-partner Prima Kardashi, stressing how fatherhood remains one of his greatest joys despite recent challenges.

“I love my daughters deeply; they are my first loves. It’s not that I don’t want to take care of them, but how can I do my responsibilities fully when I don’t even get to see them?” he said.

The singer added that co-parenting, which had been going smoothly, has become complicated in recent months.

“For me, one of my greatest joys has been being a parent. Co-parenting was going smoothly, but in the last seven months it has become very difficult. Many terms and conditions have been placed in the way, and for six months I wasn’t even around,” he revealed.

Despite the setbacks, Geosteady remains optimistic about his journey ahead, vowing to stay focused on his recovery, his music, and his role as a father.
