Singer Eddy Kenzo has revealed that he is back in school and currently studying at a university.
Kenzo, who spent much of his childhood on the streets of Kampala, said his difficult upbringing denied him a stable academic journey. As a result, he moved in and out of school without completing several key levels or earning formal certificates.
Now older and more reflective, the award-winning musician says his perspective on education has changed.
He explained that he recently sat for mature entry examinations, passed, and was admitted to university—putting to rest speculation that his return to class was driven by political ambitions.
“I’m not studying because of politics,” Kenzo said, dismissing the rumours. “This is purely personal. I went back to school, qualified through mature entry, and I’m now continuing my studies at university.”
He said the decision was motivated by fatherhood and business. As a parent, Kenzo wants to lead by example and show his children that education matters. As an entrepreneur, he believes sharpening his mind is important as he plans for life beyond the stage.
While music remains central to his life, Kenzo acknowledged that a performing career has limits. He views education as part of a broader transition into leadership, mentorship and long-term business growth.
At the time, he insisted he did not feel pressured to return to school, even as fellow musician Jose Chameleone celebrated his graduation in Diplomacy and International Relations from Cavendish University.
Today, however, Kenzo says returning to education is not about regret—but growth.
