Media personality Flavia Tumusiime has urged young girls to resist the pressure of rushing into early marriages and serious relationships, saying patience is key to personal growth and long-term happiness.
In a recent interview, Tumusiime questioned why so many young women, still in their teens and early twenties, often find themselves publicly sharing stories of heartbreak. She suggested that this trend reflects a wider social pressure on young girls to settle down before they fully understand themselves or their goals.
She encouraged young women to embrace their youth by exploring life, discovering their passions and investing time in building their dreams rather than tying themselves down too early.
According to Tumusiime, many women later look back with regret at relationships they rushed into at a young age, realising they were not emotionally prepared for the responsibilities that come with serious commitments.
“When you are young, take your time and enjoy life,” Tumusiime said. “I see many girls at 21 already regretting the men they met earlier. Focus on your ambitions and protect them. Serious relationships require maturity. Don’t rush things—because when you rush, you end up crashing.”
She emphasised that being young should be a period of learning, growth and self-care, not one dominated by pressure to prove maturity through relationships.
