On March 22, 2020, Uganda recorded her first Coronavirus (COVID-19) case and since then, the country has been recording more cases after testing over 3000 samples, now standing at 53.

There is some good news that has come out of the Ministry of Health. Yesterday, the Ministry released a statement saying that all the 338 samples that were tested turned out negative for COVID-19. That is good.

What is better though, is that the same statement said that three of the previously infected cases were subjected to two tests after treatment and they all came out negative, so they are “being considered for discharge by the Clinicians.”

If discharged, these will be the first recoveries of COVID-19 in Uganda and will increase people’s belief in the fact that contracting the disease is not a death sentence.

Currently, the world has confirmed more than 1.5 million COVID-19 infections but more than 300000 have recovered. Uganda has not registered any COVID-19 related death, as the Ministry of Health continues to appeal to the general public to follow the directions put in place to curb the disease.
