Born-again Churches donate medical equipment worth Shs3.1b to aid fight against COVID-19

The National Fellowship of Born-again Pentecostal Fellowship Churches has today donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits, Paper kits and N95-Niosh masks worth Shs3.1 billion.

The equipment was handed over to the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Dr Diana Atwine who appreciated them saying; “This is a great boost to our response and we promise to evenly distribute them across the country.”

Atwine has also flagged off non-medical items to institutional quarantine centres in 30 districts across the country.

“These items were received as donations from various stakeholders in support of the COVID-19 response,” Atwine said.

According to Atwine, each centre will receive;  50 mattresses, 50 blankets, 50 pairs of bed sheets, 500kgs of maize flour, 15 cartons of wheat flour, 50 pieces of washing basins, 40 litres of cooking oil, 250kgs of beans, 14kgs of salt, 250kgs of sugar, and 30 cartons of drinking water.

Others include four cartons of washing soap, two cartons of bathing soap, 15 litres of Jik, 20 litres of hand sanitizers, 150 pairs of hand gloves, 30 pieces of nose masks, 160 litres of detergents, and 250kgs of rice.

Currently, there are 1,103 individuals under quarantine.
