Community cases continue to rise as Health Ministry confirms eight new COVID-19 cases, total cases stand at 732

The ministry of health has confirmed eight new COVID-19 cases in Uganda. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is now 732.

Two of the confirmed cases are truck drivers from Kenya who entered via Malaba entry point. The other two were also got at the Elegu point of entry, one a turn-boy and the other a clearing agent.

Four of the remaining new cases are alerts and contacts of the already confirmed cases. Additionally, 16 foreign truck drivers who tested positive were returned to their respective countries for treatment.

The good news, however, is that the total number of recoveries has continued to rise as the number now stands at 409.

State Minister for Health in charge of General Duties, Hon. Robinah Nabbanja yesterday kicked off the distribution exercise of face masks to communities in Kyotera District as part of government interventions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

And today, the acting Prime Minister Moses Ali is meeting with Ministry of Health officials, World Health Organisation (WHO), the Science Committee on COVID-19 and representatives of laboratories testing for COVID-19 among others over discrepancies in some results from the Makerere University laboratory.
