Health ministry spokesperson Ainebyoona tests positive for COVID-19

The ministry of health spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona has tested positive for the deadly coronavirus. Through his known twitter handle, Ainebyoona disclosed that he has already been admitted at Mulago Hospital to start treatment.

“I am currently receiving treatment at Mulago Hospital after testing COVID-19 positive. I am feeling better and the doctors are doing a great job. Please remember to follow the ministry of health COVID-19 preventive measures I will be well,” Ainebyoona said in a tweet.

To date Uganda has 11,163 confirmed cases of COVID-19 after 122 new cases were reported yesterday on Friday, October 23.

All the 122 new COVID-19 cases are contacts and alerts: Kampala (55), Wakiso (11), Mukono (10), Mbarara (7), Gulu (5), Tororo (5), Kibuku (3), Luwero (4), Manafwa (3), Mbale (3), Kyotera (2), Rubanda (2), Buikwe (1), Bunyangabu (1), Bushenyi (1), Kabale (1), Kayunga, (1) Kumi (1), Lamwo (1), Lira (2), Mubende (2) and Ntungamo (1).

The ministry also reported one new COVID-19 death from Kampala taking the total COVID-19 deaths in Uganda to 99. The cumulative total recoveries stand at 7,269.
