Hospitals in Kampala run out of COVID-19 vaccine stock, Health ministry speaks out

The recent weeks have seen the rise in not only the numbers testing positive for COVID-19 but also those rushing to take their COVID-19 vaccine jab.

As of yesterday, over 750,000 people had got vaccinated and according to several citizens this website has interacted with today around the Kampala Metropolitan areas, many hospitals in Kampala they have reached out to have run out of the vaccine stock.

Uganda has been vaccinating with the Astra Zeneca vaccine from India, and recently the world at large has been experiencing a shortage in supply.

Despite admitting that there is a delay in supplying them vaccines, the ministry of health reveals that they still have vaccines in stock to help them continue with the vaccination exercise.

 “It is not true that all health facilities in Kampala have ran out of the COVID-19 vaccine. As of this morning, 3,000 doses of the vaccine were distributed to various health facilities to ensure vaccination goes on,” says the Health Ministry.

According to our sources, government has also ordered another 175,000 doses which might be delivered this week. The Ministry is also retrieving unused vaccines from low demand districts upcountry to Kampala.
