The highest figure recorded by the Ministry of Health comes four days after President Yoweri Museveni re-imposed a strict lockdown that saw the closure of schools and the suspension of inter-district travel from Thursday to help curb the spread of covid-19.

Museveni who spoke on Sunday noted that the new wave was more severe and critical than the first wave. He urged Ugandans to adhere to the Ministry of Health guidelines and ensure they wash their hands, wear masks, keep a social distance, avoid crowded places and unnecessary travel, among other moves.

He also warned that if the measures put in place don’t have the impact intended, he would totally lock down the country.
