Paediatric Physical Therapy, also known as Paediatric Physiotherapy, is a specialized form of therapy that supports children who have difficulty with movement, walking, or participating in everyday activities. What is DMI Therapy?

DMI Therapy (Dynamic Movement Intervention) is a therapeutic approach used in both physical and occupational therapy for children with motor delays. It focuses on improving automatic postural responses and encouraging developmental progress through targeted, dynamic exercises.

Each session is tailored to provoke specific active motor responses in the child. These responses are triggered through carefully selected activities designed by a trained therapist. DMI Therapy is based on the latest research in neurorehabilitation and aims to:

  • Promote neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to form new neural connections)
  • Improve postural control and balance
  • Help children reach important motor milestones
  • Build functional independence

This therapy is especially beneficial for children with neurological and motor disorders, offering hope and measurable progress over time.

Meet Your Therapist – Falguni (PT)

Falguni, BPT, C/DMI Introductory Level A, graduated from SBSU, Dehradun (U.K.), India. After moving to Kampala, Uganda, Falguni worked at a private hospital, treating children with orthopaedic injuries and neurological conditions. Her pursuit of excellence led her to complete the Dynamic Movement Intervention Introductory Level A course to enhance her clinical knowledge and hands-on skills.

Today, Falguni serves as a Physiotherapist at UMC Victoria Hospital, Kampala, where she leads the only dedicated Paediatric Rehabilitation Unit in the city. She is committed to helping children unlock their full potential through specialized care, empathy, and evidence-based practice.
