Every year on 25th July, the world marks World IVF Day. It’s the day we remember the birth of the world’s first IVF baby in 1978 — a breakthrough that changed reproductive medicine forever and gave millions of families hope for parenthood.
At UMC Victoria Hospital, we join the world in celebrating this milestone. We also reaffirm our promise to help individuals and couples in Uganda achieve their dream of having a child through safe, advanced, and compassionate fertility care.
Making Parenthood Possible
Infertility is more common than many people think. About one in six adults around the world will face fertility challenges at some point. The journey can be emotional, stressful, and tiring. But thanks to modern medicine, parenthood that once felt out of reach is now possible for many families.
At UMC Victoria Hospital, we know that no two fertility journeys are the same. Our dedicated fertility team blends advanced technology, international expertise, and genuine care to create treatment plans that fit you. From the first visit, we walk with you, offering both medical support and the reassurance you need.
Meet Our Fertility Specialists
This World IVF Day, we are proud to introduce the doctors leading our fertility care.

Dr. Mugdha Parasnis is a Consultant Fertility Specialist from India. She brings years of international experience in reproductive medicine and assisted reproductive technologies. Her skill in diagnosing and treating infertility means couples can now access world-class care right here in Uganda.

Dr. Ramin Tavakoli Matin is a Consultant Obstetrician, Gynaecologist, and Fertility Specialist. He provides complete reproductive healthcare and works closely with each patient to understand their unique situation.
He then designs an individualized treatment plan and offers steady, compassionate support from diagnosis all the way to pregnancy.
Advanced Fertility Care at UMC Victoria Hospital
Our Fertility Centre is built to support you at every stage. We offer full fertility assessments for both men and women, ovulation monitoring, and detailed fertility investigations. For treatment, we provide In Vitro Fertilization and Intrauterine Insemination, along with fertility counselling and personalized planning. Even after conception, we continue care through pregnancy and beyond. Our goal is simple: to help you conceive, and to support you with expert care every step of the way.
Breaking the Silence Around Infertility
Infertility is a medical condition, not a personal failure. But too many people still suffer in silence because of stigma and wrong information.
On this World IVF Day, UMC Victoria Hospital is calling for open conversations about reproductive health. Seeking help early can make a big difference in treatment outcomes. Please remember: you are not alone, and help is available.
