Victoria University has officially launched BeTV, a fully-fledged, professional-grade television station designed to train and showcase Uganda’s next generation of broadcasters and content creators.

The announcement was made by Vice Chancellor Prof. Lawrence Muganga, who hailed BeTV as a groundbreaking step in experiential learning and a bold extension of the university’s commitment to practical, real-world education.

“When we talk about experiential learning at Victoria University, this is what we mean — learning by doing, all day, every day,” Prof. Muganga said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “BeTV is not a campus project. It is a living media platform and an institution within an institution.”

Set to go live on 25 July 2025, BeTV will operate from Victoria University’s state-of-the-art studios, featuring red cameras, podcast production zones, and music video facilities. This makes VU the first university in Uganda to establish a television station fully integrated into its academic curriculum.

Dave Kazoora, popularly known as JKazoora and Director of the VU Innovation Hub, is part of BeTV’s founding team. He announced that auditions are now open for aspiring presenters aged 18 to 25.

Prospective presenters are encouraged to submit short phone-recorded videos introducing themselves and explaining why they should be selected. Submissions can be made via Victoria University’s social media platforms. Those selected will join BeTV’s pioneer team and benefit from hands-on training, mentorship, and personal brand development.

Prof. Muganga stressed that BeTV is a core part of the university’s Cooperative Education model, which blends academic instruction with practical, industry-level experience from day one.

“At Victoria University, we have revolutionised higher education in Uganda. We teach real-world skills, fuel innovation, build strong networks, and help our students become brands in themselves,” he said.

The launch of BeTV follows the recent debut of VU Radio, further positioning Victoria University as a leader in modern, student-centred education that equips learners with marketable skills and direct industry exposure.
