The Ruparelia Foundation has announced 100 fully-funded Master’s Degree scholarships in memory of the late Rajiv Ruparelia.

The announcement was made by Dr Sudhir Ruparelia and his wife, Mrs Jyotsna Ruparelia, during Victoria University’s 9th Graduation Ceremony held at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The scholarships are intended to honour Rajiv’s legacy to supporting young people through education. Rajiv, who passed away in May 2025 at the age of 35 following a motor accident, played a significant role in shaping Victoria University’s growth.

He was known for his passion for creating opportunities for young Africans and strengthening the university as a centre for innovation and talent development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Sudhir said the scholarships were a way to keep Rajiv’s vision alive.

“This initiative reflects Rajiv’s deep belief in empowering the next generation. We hope these beneficiaries will continue the work he was devoted to,” he noted.

The announcement drew heartfelt applause from graduates, parents, and invited guests.

The scholarship programme adds to the Ruparelia Foundation’s long-standing philanthropic support in education.

The foundation previously offered tuition relief during the COVID-19 period and has awarded more than 1,000 scholarships over the years.

The new initiative aims to support talented graduates at a time when many young people face challenges accessing further education and securing employment.

Victoria University Vice Chancellor, Dr Lawrence K. Muganga, described the gesture as both a tribute and an investment in the future.

The chief guest, Busoga Kingdom monarch His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, commended the Ruparelia family for turning personal grief into an act of hope for future leaders.

The graduation ceremony, held under the theme “Shaping the Future: Innovation, Digitality & Employability,” also featured a moving visual tribute to Rajiv, reflecting his impact and the values he championed.
