The Ruparelia Foundation has extended Christmas cheer to vulnerable women and children in Kamwokya, delivering food items and mattresses as part of its annual holiday outreach to communities in Kampala’s urban slums.

This year’s support also reached residents of Kisenyi II and Mulago Nsooba. The initiative, carried out under the Ruparelia Group’s corporate social responsibility programme, provides food relief, bedding, and hygiene assistance to informal settlements every festive season.

During the handover, Sheena Ruparelia, a director at the Ruparelia Group, reaffirmed the family’s commitment to uplifting communities that face daily hardship.

“As a family, it has always been our dream to help those in need. This work continues the vision of the late Rajiv Ruparelia, who identified these communities and made it his mission to support them,” she said.

Sheena noted that the foundation’s efforts go beyond distributing food. “Every year, we ensure these communities receive not only relief items but also hygiene support to improve their living conditions,” she added.

In line with that commitment, the foundation commissioned a new toilet facility in Mulago Nsooba. The facility will serve both residents and pupils of Good Samaritan Primary School, a community that has long struggled with poor sanitation.

Noah Kisira, head teacher of the school, welcomed the donation, saying it would significantly ease sanitation challenges. “We have faced serious hygiene issues because there were no proper toilets. This new facility will help our children and the community. We are truly grateful,” he said.

Patrick Mujuzi, founder of Ghetto Research Lab, also praised the foundation. He recounted approaching the group five years ago after seeing the daily struggles faced by people in the ghetto.

“Life in the ghetto comes with many challenges—poverty, unemployment, and a lack of basic necessities. We appreciate the Ruparelia Group for consistently standing with us,” Mujuzi said.

The Ruparelia Foundation pledged to continue partnering with community leaders to identify needs in sanitation, food security and general welfare across Kampala’s most vulnerable neighbourhoods.
