Arua Municipality MP Col. Ibrahim Yusuf Abiriga has laughed off whoever thinks he is not capable of serving Arua people because of their claims that he lacks appropriate academic qualifications.

Abiriga makes an addition to the list of NRM MPs that have been questioned over lack of minimum academic documents some of whom were relieved of their duties after courts ruled in their opponents’ favour.

However, Hon Abiriga said he is not bothered by people who say he does not possess the academic qualifications to be an MP.

In an interview with The Observer newspaper, Abiriga said academic qualifications are overrated.

“Not having the minimum academic qualification does not mean I don’t have a brain; I have a brain. My eye is my brain. My head is my master’s degree and my heart is the PhD. What a man of PhD says is what I say. The academic papers only prove that you went to school. I started my education in my mother’s womb,” Mr Abiriga defended himself.
