President Museveni finally revealed as to why he dropped Kayunga Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Aidah Nantaba from his cabinet.

While closing the party retreat in Kyankwazi, Museveni stated that Hon. Nantaba was hardworking but she was so much interested in seeking cheap popularity.

“Nantaba was fighting for the landless but she also added on fighting for cheap popularity. Even those who were telling lies, she would support them. Don’t support those telling lies. Only support the genuine people” said Museveni.

Nantaba came strong in 2012 when she was appointed Minister of State for Lands. She fought land battles with several big government officials and she could publically make calls to Museveni whenever she got stuck.

In 2016 after quitting NRM and standing as an independent in Kayunga, she was appointed minister of state for ICT, a position she held up to 2019 when she was dropped from cabinet and replaced with Peter Ogwang.

In January 14 polls this year, Nantaba defended her Kayunga Woman Member of Parliament seat as she was declared winner of the race with 42,725 votes.  However, her win is being challenged in court by Harriet Nakwedde who got 37,117 votes.

Nakwedde claims that the voting and tallying process was characterized by several irregularities such as falsification of results that led to the declaration of wrong results in favour of Nantaba.
