Nigerian football officials have fined a first-division team in Ibadan $1,000 (about Shs3.7 million) after the release of a photo purporting to show an official urinating on the pitch.
According to reports in the local media, the official has also been barred for a year from participating in any Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)-related activities.
The NPFL describes the incident as “a despicable act” that brought the game into disrepute.
The photo, which has since gone viral on social media platforms, is said to have been taken before the Shooting Stars’ home game against Akwa United.
