Night Ampulire, a fruit vendor from Entebbe who gained recognition for her resilience in providing for her five children, is now facing a devastating ordeal after her pickup truck reportedly went missing.

The vehicle, which was gifted to Ampulire by MTN Uganda in recognition of her hard work, broke down recently. Following advice, she sought help from a Kampala-based mechanic.

According to NTV Uganda, the mechanic requested Shs800,000  for the repairs. Despite using her savings, Ampulire was able to raise and pay only Shs700,000.

The mechanic then claimed he needed to test the vehicle. However, the truck was taken to an unknown location, and nearly two weeks have passed without any updates on its whereabouts.

Ampulire’s story first captured public attention in August last year when her struggles were highlighted on social media.

Many were inspired by her determination to support her family, including her four-month-old baby, by selling fruits from a battered pickup truck.
